Divinity II: The Dragon Knight Saga is a role playing game developed and published by Larian Studios. Its original release in 2020 was titled EgoDraconis, and it was published in North America by CDV Software Entertainment and in Europe by DTP Entertainment. The game follows the story of the previous title, which was set in a world devastated by demons. This time around, the protagonist, Kain, is back to complete his destiny and save the world. As the game progresses, you will find that it has many similarities to Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale; however, its story takes place in a modern-day fantasy setting.
You play as Kain, who is the last of his line, and has inherited the legacy of the legendary Dragomir. However, Kain is not what he seems: he is actually a half-elf, whose personality is hidden from those closest to him. When he is young, Kain lived among humans and elves, but when he was about to turn sixteen, he decided to leave home and travel to the far east, so that he can become a powerful and accomplished warrior. Unfortunately, Kain did not know where he would go or what he would do once he reached his destination. At this point, he met up with a mysterious woman named Sarevok, whom he fell in love with and wanted to marry. However, before things could progress further, Sarevok betrayed Kain, taking control of his body and turning him into a demon. In the process, she also killed Sarevok's father and caused much grief for her son.
So, when the time came to escape from Sarevok and take revenge on Sarevok's father, Kain found that he had to cross the lands of the demon realm and take care of the demon in his form. Eventually, he encountered and defeated Sarevok in battle, leaving her for dead. As the game unfolds, Kain finds that the demons have taken control of his body, and he must use it to destroy them in order to regain his body and resume his human form. However, with every battle, he gets closer to defeat the demons, he will find that he must sacrifice himself to do so.
